Webinar Presenter: Dr. Joe Louis
Webinar Abstract:

A Cascadia Subduction Zone (CSZ) event is expected to trigger multiple cascading hazards – including ground shaking, tsunami inundation, and landslides – that can severely disrupt Oregon’s roadway network. This disruption may isolate numerous communities, compounding the challenges of disaster response and recovery. Emergency managers must rapidly deploy heavy equipment to restore access; however, determining how to allocate these limited resources effectively is complex due to uncertainty and competing recovery priorities. This presentation introduces a decision-support framework that addresses this challenge by first visualizing expected damage and areas of isolation, and then using simulation-based analysis to inform strategic resource allocation for roadway repair.
