Because Seconds Matter: ShakeAlert Earthquake Early Warning for Lifeline Infrastructure

The ShakeAlert Early Warning (EEW) System can provide seconds to tens of seconds of warning before dangerous earthquake shaking arrives. Communities can integrate ShakeAlert EEW data into lifeline facilities to mitigate damage and enhance situational awareness. This webinar will describe modalities for using EEW to protect people and infrastructure, including public alerting to cell phones and becoming a licensed alert delivery partner. Case studies will focus on public transit and water-wastewater utilities, with examples of how EEW technology can automatically stop trains, slow pumps, and close valves upon earthquake detection.
