Experimental Modeling of Post-CSZ Electrical Grid

A Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake will damage transmission infrastructure across the Western Interconnection (WECC), creating a weaker grid with higher equivalent impedance at generation points of connection. This project develops an experimental platform using grid simulators to model the electrical transition from normal operation to post-earthquake conditions—enabling laboratory study of grid stability, protection coordination, and mitigation strategies before the event occurs.
